The Mexican Caribbean awakes at night: Cancun is renowned for its exciting nightlife, throughout the day its streets are almost empty, but come dusk and they become alive. At the heart of the Hotel Zone people gather to be part of a great show that lasts until day breaks. Small bars and impressive night clubs like Coco Bongo, Dady O, The City, Dady Rock and Bulldog offer a cosmopolitan atmosphere with music from world renowned DJs, shows, video screens, and performances by profesional artists. Somethings is always happening, from bikini contests to artists painting on the street. Cancun is certainly one of the utmost nightlife destinations. In contrast with Cancun, Playa del Carmen wakes up earlier, and although it lacks Cancun´s huge night clubs, its famous 5th Avenue is the place to be. An international catwalk where everyone gathers for dinner, have a drink and simply watch people pass by. Attractive shops open until late at night and the best restaurants and bars are displayed along this lively pedestrian walkway. A few steps away is one of the best beaches of the Riviera Maya where you will find an array of lounges by the sea all in a delightfully casual Caribbean atmosphere. |
